Dr. Antonio Gurule DC, CSCS
To start it must be address that I do not think back can go out. Where does it go? Is something dislodged from its normal anatomical location? Does a pop mean a disc herniation? (answer: not always)
But this discussion is for another time.
Let us focus on what can be done if your back, so called, “went out”
I know because I have been there.
What kind of chiropractor hurts his own back going through his doctorate of chiropractic program?
Oddly enough this was at the end of my time at Palmer, when I had gained a great understanding of how the body functions and what are the risk factors for potentially getting injured. But with a full school load, part time employment, and working out 5-6 days a week doing CrossFit, by back shut down and said NOPE!
Let it be know it was not just one things here, do think for a minute it was CrossFit that did it, if anything working out kept me feeling great.
But this was different. How can I walk it off if I was stuck on the floor?
There was no bruising or swelling, and to be honest there was pain when I was on the floor but not as much as I would have thought. It was more the fear of pain that was creating an immense amount of tension in my lower back locking up any and every muscle nearby, preventing me from being able to move hardly an inch.
I bet you are wondering what the hell I did to get myself in such as pickle.
For those that have been down this road before, you know that there really is not a whole lot that you can do in this situation.
But I wanted to share with you a few secrets that actually reduced my pain significantly to the point where I was able to walk around and move in less than 10 minutes.
