What is rehabilitation and physical therapy?
By definition, rehabilitation means to restore something to its original state. As humans we have to amazing ability to adapt and change in relation to our environment. Although most view this as an amazing evolutionary adaptation that allowed humans to be superior to other animals, this has also been to our detriment over the last few centuries. As technology advances, the amount of effort that we as humans need to exert has significantly decreased.
What does this mean?
This means that we sit more than ever before. According to an Ergotron survey conducted in 2013, Americans on average sit 13 hours a day and sleep for 8 hours a night. This leads to a lifestyle of nearly 21 hours a day. According to our evolutionary characteristics we will adapt to our lifestyles, and in this instance not for the better.
